The Battlefield 2042 fail put Respawn in charge of 3 new Star Wars games

Today’s EA announcement tells all about the current state of DICE and how the studio is viewed by EA.

Electronic Arts has revealed on its official website that Respawn Entertainment, the creators of Apex Legends, is to take care of 3 new Star Wars games. The studio did a really good job thus far and, apart from the press releases, the games can come out pretty well.

There are three productions planned, one is a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the second is a strategy game, and the third is an FPS title.

All this from Respawn Entertainment

The industry has already embraced this information as sort of a ‘giving up on DICE’ and a demonstration that Respawn is now number one.

DICE is to focus primarily on Battlefield, trying to fix it somehow, although it is difficult to say whether it is possible at all. At this point, the developers are even thinking about making the game completely free.

Fans of the Star Wars universe may be pleased with this turn of events. Few would be happy to hear that these games are being developed with the participation of DICE, which clearly could not cope with Battlefield.
