Twitch had to turn off the streaming promotion feature in a panic. This is the effect of 18+ content on the home page

Twitch was indeed playing with fire by introducing this feature. It was supposed to be interesting and engage the community more. It resulted in the artificial promotion of inappropriate streams.

Yesterday we covered a rather unusual case where a stream promotion ended up with 18+ content on the main TTV page. It was a function that allowed to pay the community (viewers) of a given streamer for showing the broadcast among the featured streams.

In theory, an interesting idea that engages the audience. In practice, it did not benefit anyone, but it turned against Twitch, streamers, and ordinary users of the platform. As a result, TTV made an immediate decision to remove this experiment.

Twitch is taking this feature back

Yesterday, news about the situation where 18+ content was shown on the home page was big.

And it was definitely not a one-off. There were more such transmissions, they appeared and disappeared all the time throughout the week. In the end, however, the matter became so media that Twitch had to act.

There was only one thing to do in that regard. Twitch just removed this feature. You can guess that either it will not come back at all, or in the future, it will be very limited, for example only for streamers with a partnership.

A little funny, a little scary, but you might have expected it to just die for some reason.
