Discord has long been regarded as one of the leading instant messengers, no longer just for gamers, but for various communities in general, to contact friends, many people use it like an alternative to Messenger.

That’s why it’s quite amusing to see the warnings shown to parents to pay attention to what the child has on the computer. Having Tor can be understood, but a virtual machine or Discord?

Why is Discord supposedly dangerous?

A flyer that parents receive states that Discord is often used as a platform to communicate information regarding hacking tips. Seriously. Usually younger people settle on Discord to play Fortnite, Minecraft, or watch some Youtube video together, but apparently someone thinks otherwise.

It’s hard to understand why Discord appears here, while any other messenger that allows you to create your own groups could just as well be added to the list. Most likely, the issue is the lack of sufficient top-down moderation of servers, although, as you know, Discord bans and watches over security all the time.

According to recent data, the platform has banned more than 55 million accounts and shut down more than 68,000 servers of various kinds.
