The service has 3 weeks to remove all amateur videos that do not have concrete documentation proving the identity of the person publishing them.
The service with “x” and “hamster” in it after a long court battle has to take definite steps. It has already added additional verification of people who publish videos there – specific proof of identity (passport, ID, driver’s license) must be submitted. However, there is a mass of material out there that was published long ago and whose sources cannot be found.
Now, after a lengthy court case and many strange twists and turns, the platform has been pushed to the wall. It has been given a total of three weeks to get rid of the videos without proper documentation.
The mass of videos will be deleted
There is unlikely to be any “rescue” from this, so hundreds of thousands of videos will simply evaporate. This is all the result of a lawsuit that began over 10 videos purporting to depict people under the age of 18.
After that, it backfired hard and the service has now been ordered to remove all videos without verification. What happens when the service on “x” fails to comply with this request? Well, the court here applied a fine of $32,000 for each day of delay.
These are not the days when the companies behind such platforms were anonymous. Here there is a specific entity, and specific names, so prosecuting these people is not some complicated matter. Especially since the trial has been going on since 2022.
