Netflix has introduced its bot on Discord, but it doesn’t work as everyone expected

Entertaining

Netflix has made its bot available to the public, which can be added to Discord servers. Everyone expected that this one would allow watching movies and series directly in the messenger.

Netflix, introducing its bot, suggested that it would allow watching series and movies with friends. There was a special trailer on social media advertising the new functionality.

It seemed to be a good idea and well executed. Well, reality quickly verified it. It turns out that the bot works, but not as everyone expected.

Netflix bot on Discord – what does it do?

The announcement is quite nice, you add the bot to the server, and the whole community can watch the movie/series.

Except that it works completely differently. It is possible to gather people, but in the last step the bot simply throws out a link to the official Netflix site. That’s where all the amazing functionality ends. So people who hoped to somehow get around the requirement to have a Netflix subscription were severely disappointed.

The bot is quite popular, possibly precisely because of people’s hopes. It’s currently installed on more than 20,000 servers, so by all accounts it works. To add “Hey, Netflix,” go to the server settings and type “netflix” into the search engine.

Apparently, the app allows you to gather people to watch, but still, many people hoped that it would allow you to watch directly on Discord.
