GMHikaru was banned from Twitch for watching Dr. Disrespect’s chess match.
Hikaru Nakamura, known on Twitch as GMHikaru, has been an American chess grandmaster since 2003. He mainly plays chess on his live broadcasts and occasionally watches other chess matches.
This time he looked at the fight of two popular influencers: DrLupo with Dr Disrespect and as it turned out, despite the fact that he was sure that he would not receive a blockade for it, he was finally banned for the first time in his history.
GMHikaru banned
During a live broadcast on March 16, 2022, GMHikaru showed his fans the game between Dr Disrespect and DrLupo. Although viewers warned him that Dr Disrespect was banned from this platform and that he was in danger of being banned, the streamer stated that he is not afraid of being banned and only wants to watch the match.

Almost a week after this event, a bot informing about the blockade of Twitch partners reported that GMHikaru had just received his first forced break from the platform.
Less than 20 minutes later, his entry appeared. In it, he confirmed that the ban was actually for watching a banned Twitch partner and referred to the high-profile case on March 10, where Dr Disrespect announced that this was the end of his war with the streaming platform – more about it in this article.
Fortunately, he will come back after 3 days, so the break is not big. However, this shows streamers that they still need to be wary of content related to Dr Disrespect, who still remains banned from Twitch.
