Many people were quite surprised to see that V was going to be able to fall into total cyberpsychosis. This had to be quickly clarified.
The new addition to Cyberpunk 2077 will introduce a number of interesting new features, which will also affect the modification system. According to the trailer, but also general announcements, V was to be subjected to cyberpsychosis, which significantly reduces consciousness, movements, etc.
From the first information that appeared in the media, it seemed that there would be a perk to bypass this, while now more is known about it.
Cyberpsychosis in Cyberpunk 2077
According to the latest information, there will be a limit to the modifications that V will be able to have. When this limit is exceeded, symptoms of cyberpsychosis will appear, but it will not be a disease in the full sense of the word.
The developers explain that it is meant to be a balancing act between profit and loss. As Sasko says, this should not be taken as an official introduction of cyberpsychosis for V. So how is it supposed to work?
Players using the new perk will be able to bypass modification limits while facing specific consequences, such as reducing their health, lowering some stats in exchange for increasing others, etc.
This makes a lot of sense, because once you get cyberpsychosis, it would be difficult to play on and the entire gameplay save would be tossable. You would possibly have to go back to the previous save, which would be quite tiring. And this way, everyone would be able to decide whether they prefer another implant or whether they want to have more HP after all.
