It happened. Cyberpunk 2077 has overtaken The Witcher 3, helped by “horny” players

Cyberpunk 2077 has just overtaken The Witcher 3 in a very specific comparison.

Cyberpunk 2077 has often been compared to The Witcher because of the same developer, but there was unlikely to be any open rivalry between the two titles. It is interesting, however, that in the end Cyberpunk managed to catch up, and yesterday even overtook The Witcher 3.

The Witcher 3 was released in 2015, while Cyberpunk 2077 was released in 2020. It only took three years for people to download more mods for the newer CDPR production than for the older one. And while this may not seem very significant, there is something interesting behind it.

Cyberpunk 2077 has overtaken The Witcher

Previously, gamers reported that it was close, and finally happened. Cyberpunk has overtaken The Witcher. Mods for Cyberpunk 2077 have already been downloaded 124 million times, while those for The Witcher have been downloaded 123.7 million times. The difference is small, but growing quite fast.

Why did this happen? It was helped by players looking for “bolder” content in Cyberpunk. Many mods are based on appearance changes, romance, and adding new “nude scenes.”

Regardless, you have to give credit to the Cyberpunk community for being heavily involved in creating modifications and playing them.
