How many copies of Cyberpunk 2077 were sold after its release? The difference with pre-orders can be overwhelming

Bloomberg summarized Cyberpunk 2077’s analytical data, revealing that the number of copies of the game sold is much smaller than expected.

Cyberpunk 2077 reportedly did not sell as well as CDPR calculated. It was assumed that a year after the game’s premiere, the number of copies sold would oscillate around 30 million. Well, it’s only “a little” worse, because Cyberpunk has sold 17.3 million copies, according to analysts.

The situation after the premiere, of course, had a huge impact on it, where practically only bugs and technical problems were discussed. CDPR knows it’s bad because even now you can buy Cyberpunk on GOG with a 50% discount.

How many pre-orders and how many copies sold after the premiere?

The real surprise may be the difference between the number of pre-orders and the number of copies sold after the premiere. Once again – a total of 17.3 million were sold, of which as much as 13.7 million came strictly from pre-orders.

Once people realized what the situation was, they all suddenly stopped buying. Only 3.6 million people decided to buy the game after its premiere. The question is, does Bloomberg include all those $ 10-style discounts as well.

Analysts predict an increase in Cyberpunk 2077 copies sold from 3.6 million in 2021 to 5.3 million, but these are just theories. However, there may actually be something to it. The game keeps getting better, meaningful DLC and story expansions should appear next year.
