If you’re under 19, you’re going to have a problem on Twitch. New age verification
Twitch introduces age verification. This only applies to the most popular streamers at the moment, but it will likely spread around the whole platform.
This information is not from Twitch, but a new age verification has appeared on several of the largest channels, including xQc’s channel. You probably know that streamers may have set their broadcasts to be intended for people over 18 years of age.
In this case, Twitch itself marks the selected streams as intended for people over 19 years of age. And it’s interesting because you actually have to be 19, not 18. Although it is possible that it is strictly for people who have declared the USA as their place of residence.
This can be problematic
It is known that people over the age of 13 can use Twitch. If you write in the chat that you are 12 years old, you must take into account a ban. Here the age rises and it is easy to imagine a situation where someone created an account a year ago, declared that he is 17 and currently cannot watch xQc.
The question is whether the declared age must match what is set on the account, or whether it will work completely independently.
The situation sowed a seed of uncertainty among the audience. It is not known when and how it is being introduced. At the moment, this only applies to a few streamers, but it will probably be expanded further until it also reaches smaller creators in many other countries.
