Who will become the new James Bond? Tom Hanks has picked his candidate

There has long been speculation in the film world about who would make a good “modern” Agent 007.

In the Hollywood world, it is very common to talk about which actor best portrayed the role of James Bond. The franchise that tells the story of the agent, also known as 007, is known all over the world and has included many different versions.

There is also frequent talk about who, if anyone, should become the next James Bond and replace Daniel Craig, who performed admirably in the role, although before he played the iconic hero, he left some concerns. After all, the actor was the first Bond with blond hair. However, it looks like Craig, with his uniqueness, has opened a path for other versions of Agent 007 as well.

Tom Hanks has singled out the new James Bond?

In a recent interview with the BBC, we had a chance to hear a bit about the new James Bond, or rather, which famous actor Tom Hanks would see in the role of the iconic agent.

Understand this, James Bond has a licence to k*ll. I would issue that licence to Idris Elba just based on the work that I’ve seen him do.

Interestingly, Idris Elba has long ranked high on lists for typing the next James Bond, right alongside Tom Hardy and Henry Cavill. However, it is the former of the three who is most likely to get the opportunity.

Unfortunately, the actor himself has officially confirmed that he will not stand in the shoes of Agent 007. During a recent promotion for “Luther: Twilight” on Netflix, Elba said:

A lot of people talk about another character that starts with “J” and ends with “B,” but I won’t be that guy. I’m John Luther.

Of course, Idris Elba was once involved in talks with James Bond directors about him taking over the role, but it looks like the talks were not successful. However, that was a good few years ago, when Daniel Craig was still starring as Agent 007. Interestingly, however, rumors arose in early 2023 that Elba would be in talks with the directors again on the subject. How it will be, however – time will tell.
