Only one actor from Stranger Things has the opportunity to win an Emmy award

Despite the fact that Stranger Things is a goldmine of great actors, unfortunately, only one person got the opportunity to win an award at the Emmy.

The Emmy Awards Gala is one of the most important awards in the American cultural enterprise, taking place every year since 1949.

The Emmy is one of the EGOT awards, the four most important cultural awards in the US:

  • E – Emmy for television and streaming media,
  • G – Grammy in the field of music,
  • O – Oscar in the field of film,
  • T – Tonys in the field of theater.

Voting for this year’s Emmy Awards begins on June 15, so the gala has already begun revealing the nominations. Many expected Stranger Things to dominate this year’s awards, but as it turns out – only one actor managed to sign up for the nomination list.

Who from Stranger Things has been nominated for an Emmy?

Although the finale of the 4th season of Stranger Things took place almost a year ago, and fans are currently awaiting the latest information regarding the 5th installment of the series, according to many people the last season was the best one yet. That’s why people expected the Emmy Awards gala to be dominated mainly by the cast of the iconic series. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Unfortunately, due to the rather strict Emmy rules, only one actor could be included in the list of award nominees. It was Dacre Montgomery, whom you may associate in the series as Billy. What’s more, it turns out that the Emmy does not include the entire 4th season of Stranger Things in the awards, as the series must be produced by the end of May 31 to be fully eligible.

It follows that only 2 episodes of the 4th season of Stranger Things could be considered, and for a series to be tagged in the drama series category, it must have at least 6 episodes. This is why the “Acting in a Drama Series” category became unavailable for this production at this year’s Emmy.

However, there is good news for Stranger Things. The series can still take part in other categories, such as “directing,” “writing” and “guest actors.” To qualify for the latter, an actor cannot appear in the series more than 50% of the episodes in a season. That’s why Dacre Montgomery as Billy Hargrove could be nominated because he meets the prerequisites.

However, it looks like Montgomery will have stiff competition in his category. Predictions for other nominees include actors from The Last of Us, Better Call Saul or Succession. This could still change, however, so it’s worth waiting for the official nominations.
