Salandit in Pokemon GO

Salandit is a fire and poison Pokemon introduced in Generation VII. 12.5% of this species is female and it is they who can evolve into Salazzle.

Salandit itself is a black creature resembling a salamander or a lizard. According to legends, salamanders are also often associated with fire, and in some cases also with poison. It is likely that the creators took inspiration from the red-bellied Japanese newt, which has a similar color to this Pokemon.

More interestingly, no other Pokemon has the same type combination as Salandit and its evolved form.

The name of the creature can be a combination of the words salamander and bandit. In the Japanese version, it is called Yatoumori, which in turn is derived from the words 夜 盗 yatō (burglar) and 井 守 imori (newt).

Salandite is found around volcanoes or arid environments. From the marking at the base of the tail, it can emit both toxic gas and flames. Gas is produced when body fluids are burned and has a sweet smell that makes its enemies feel dizzy. The male Salandita offers food to the female, leaving him malnourished and unable to evolve.
