Pokemon GO player’s daughter did not catch him a rare creature because she thought it was “hideous”
The player couldn’t believe it when his daughter refused to catch the shiny version of one of the Pokemon.
In Pokemon GO, creatures have a different collector value. The ones that appear on regular basis are not particularly valuable and practically every player has them in their Pokedex. The situation changes if any of them is shiny.
Of course, it is difficult to equate the value of each shiny specimen, as these can also be more or less unique. Pokémon that have had their Community Day usually aren’t that shocking anymore when they appear in their shiny versions, as everyone who has been playing the game during a Community Day has at least a few.
Things are different when the relatively rare Pokemon turns out to be shiny. There are players in the world who wait for such a moment for years and can even cry with happiness when, after long months of waiting, they finally find their beloved creature in a collector’s version.
Since we already know that shiny specimens are valuable, it’s time to imagine a situation in which someone consciously refuses to catch such a Pokemon. This happened with one player when his daughter was playing on his phone.
Sad story with shiny Doduo
One of the players shared a rather unpleasant story that will make many players feel bad. The author of the post – OrphanedPenguin – reported that his daughter was playing Pokemon GO and at one point clicked on a Doduo attracted by Incense. It turned out that the creature appeared in a shiny version, which, as you know, is quite a rare sight. Many players would really give a lot to have one in their collection.
Unfortunately, the girl did not know how lucky she was. Her dad wrote:
My daughter was playing and said “Green Dodo yucky – want it brown” and I had a minor heart attack as she fled an incense shiny.
The creature vanished after a while, of course, as it was attracted by Incense. The situation was so shocking (and funny in its own way) that the player decided to share it with the rest of the community.
Commentators wondered how many other shiny were wasted because the kids playing Pokemon GO weren’t aware that they had stumbled upon something special.
Some wrote that as much younger players themselves, they gave up catching shiny Pokémon (including in console games) because they did not like them visually.
