What are the tasks for the new event in Pokemon GO?

On February 1, 2022, the Chinese New Year event started in the game. The event will run for the next few days until Monday, February 7. Many bonuses were added for this occasion, and Litleo and its evolutions got its shiny version. The Chinese New Year also brought new tasks to the game, both Timed Research and Field Research. The first type is divided into two short challenges. Each of them has slightly different rules and offers different rewards.

Lunar New Year: Catch Challenge

  • Catch 10 Pokemon: 10 x PokeBall
  • Catch 25 Pokemon: 15 x Great Ball
  • Catch 25 Fire Pokémon: 20 x Ultra Ball
  • Catch 10 different species of Pokemon: Litleo

Rewards: Espurr, 1000 x Stardust, 1000 XP

Lunar New Year: Friendship Challenge 

  • Send 5 sticker gifts to friends: Torchic
  • Trade Pokemon with a friend 3 times: Corphish
  • Send 15 gifts to friends: Darumaka
  • Send gifts for 3 days in a row: Surprise Pokemon

Rewards: Surprise Pokemon, 1000 x Stardust, 1000 XP

Field Research – task list

  • Catch 5 Pokémon: 25 x Mega Gyarados Energy
  • Send 3 gifts to friends: Magikarp
  • Hatch an egg: Alolan Meowth or Galarian Meowth
  • Win a raid: Espurr
  • Catch 12 Pokemon: Darumaka
  • Send 3 sticker gifts to friends: Litleo
  • Trade a Pokemon with a friend: Litleo
