“Dear Niantic, please hear us” – what are Pokemon GO players asking for?
An interesting post has appeared on the web in which the community asks the creators of Pokemon GO to change their behavior.
Pokemon GO is a game that has been on the market for several years. During this time, it has gathered hundreds of thousands of fans around the world. The title is constantly developed and improved. Unfortunately, some fans believe that the developers have forgotten that the community is the most important because it keeps the game alive.
Did Niantic get too greedy at some point? What do the players say? Here is an interesting appeal that appeared on the Internet.
Do the makers of Pokemon GO not respect players?
A player with the nickname ImNotGhost013 decided to write down all the complaints of the Pokemon GO community and create a post that is a kind of appeal to the developers of the game. It raised a lot of issues that have upset fans in recent months.
I’ve been playing Pokémon Go on and off since 2016. It’s the only game that has ever held my retention for so long because you guys really have something great here. What I don’t understand is the complete lack of respect and appreciation for the community that has happily supported you for over 5 years.
In April of 2021, you chose to heavily reduce the range of pokestops and gyms by half (80m to 40m) despite most of the world still dealing with the Covid pandemic. Thankfully you chose to revert this after community backlash, but the fact this even happened for a second is so tone deaf it’s almost comical.
In March of this year, you guys decided to reduce the effectiveness of incense to attract a single Pokémon once every 5 minutes as opposed to the 1 minute it previously took. (see: Incense changes destroyed Community Day in Pokemon GO? The players are furious).
In April of this year, you have chosen to reduce the community days to 3 hours from 6. This change combined with the reduction of effectiveness on incense has left community days almost useless for players who previously relied on incense due to location. (see: Pokemon GO players are dissatisfied with the announced changes to the Community Days. Why?)
Finally, today you have decided to announce that you are not only removing the remote raid passes from the 1 coin bundle available every week, but also increased the cost of the three remote raid pass bundle to be 300 coins instead of the previous 250.
Unfortunately for me, this was the last straw. I absolutely adore the idea of this game and the connections it brought me with friends. I will never forget the community days and the chance I was given to connect with friends during Go fest 2021. I desperately want to continue to love this game but you have made it abundantly clear that you do not respect your players or their time. I only hope you reconsider the way you see your player base, and I hope to someday return in the future.
The above-mentioned post has become incredibly popular. Over 10,000 people rated it positively. It has also been commented on almost 1,000 times.
Many players said that the above words really saddened them as they realized that the game had changed a lot and the developers are not really developing it to please their devoted fans.
Niantic responded to one of the allegations of the above-mentioned user. It was precisely about the Remote Raid Passes, which it was decided to remove from the package for 1 PokeCoin. According to the creators, this addition was only in the game temporarily, because the world was under a pandemic, so fans could not spend so much time outside.
The company emphasizes that Pokemon GO has always been a game that encouraged people to exercise and walk outdoors, so some of the bonuses introduced during the pandemic were only temporary.
