The server shutdown and the end of Overwatch 1 is coming, and this is the last day you’ll be able to play

Overwatch 1 will turn into Overwatch 2. As a result, OW servers will be temporarily shut down, only to come back directly with the second part of the game.

Overwatch 2 is coming in a big way. Yesterday, basically all the information that players needed was revealed. The key piece of information for those who own “one” – you will get Kiriko at the start of Overwatch 2. You will not have to either buy a pass or level it up.

For everyone else, i.e. new players, Kiriko will be “locked” in the Battle Pass. To unlock her, you will have to level up to 55 or simply buy a pass. This is because the heroine is on the free path. The pass costs $10.

How long will it take to unlock Kiriko? Reportedly, it will be two or three weeks of playing with completing all the challenges, etc. Is that a lot? Depends on the person. The season is expected to last about 9 weeks.

The end of Overwatch 1

It certainly can’t be said that Blizzard doesn’t have an idea for Overwatch 2. Plenty of concepts are pulled from other games, but that’s actually a good thing. In addition, the game will finally feature something that players have long been anticipating – new events, or rather, the same ones with new content. Already for Halloween, a brand new mode is expected to appear.

Did Blizzard live up to expectations? There are many opinions on that. Certainly, it’s quite a breath of fresh air – battle pass, challenges, new currency (you’ll be able to buy selected items with the old one, too), new events, new types of cosmetic items, etc. Further on, however, it’s hard not to get the impression that this is basically Overwatch 2.0.

In any case, if you want to play the one, you’d better hurry up. Overwatch 2 will replace Overwatch 1 on October 4. Blizzard has revealed that OW1’s servers will run until October 2 Pacific time in total.

The technical break is expected to last about 27 hours. After the break, you will see Overwatch 2. There will be no option to play Overwatch 1.

There is certainly a big test ahead for Blizzard. Right now, the interest is mainly among senior Overwatch players. Now it’s time to get new people.
