What could League of Legends fans learn from leaks about the next champion?
Some time ago, Riot released a video – a roadmap – in which it informed players about who the upcoming champions to League of Legends would be. Fans learned that one of the upcoming heroes will be K’Sante – a tank built with top lane in mind, who will have more complex mechanics.
Previous leaks have revealed some distinctive elements, such as that the hero will have dark skin and be muscular. What can we learn about this time from the leaks published online?
Leaks about K’Sante
Relatively little has been known about the champion so far. He is supposed to be a tank with complicated mechanics, who will mainly go for the upper lane. He hails from the new Shurima region and will be a muscular black man who, at this point, has been compared to Doomfist from Overwatch.
However, not much was known about his release. When might it take place? Initial leaks suggested update 12.18, which is expected to hit servers as early as September 21, so the character would have to appear on PBE as early as next week. According to BigBadBear – a well-known leaker in the League of Legends community – this will not be the case and the champion will appear in LoL with the upcoming Spirit Blossom event or Music Beat skins.
There has also been speculation that K’Sante will be gay. One of the Rioters, when asked about this representation of MLM (men who love other men) among the new heroes, replied as follows.
The orientation of an Ixtal hero will be rather unknown, since characters are generally suspended in time. Sometimes the orientation is not part of the champion’s current history, but what you are asking may be closer than you think.
Due to the fact that one of the posts published by a Riot employee stated that the next Darkin will be a woman and that the champion from the region where Qiyana comes from does not have a specific sexual orientation, the employee was most likely just making a statement about K’Sante, who is expected to be revealed to the community soon.
