That’s how Riot, more than 10 years ago, advertised one of the legendary skins for LoL. There would be no chance for that to happen today

Players remember one of the most memical legendary skins from all of League of Legends.

Currently, there are over 80 legendary skins in League of Legends, and each new one is at an increasingly higher level. The creators try to design skins that are interesting, original and simply the ones that will sell well. Probably many players know well-known skins such as Spirit Blossom Ahri, Dark Cosmic Jhin, God Fist Lee Sin, or even Nightbringer Yasuo.

However, the legends were not always so well made. Initially, they did not change much, and sometimes they did not even differ much from the basic version (apart from splash art and a different model, of course). When the legendary Olaf skin was released in 2010, some were delighted because they thought it was really cool when the creators refer to memes, culture, and various famous phrases.

Today, more than 11 years have passed since the premiere of Brolaf, because the skin appeared on December 1, 2010. What does the trailer look like? Can you watch it today with a smile on your face or maybe it causes shivers of embarrassment?

Brolaf, the King of Bromacia – over 11 years after its premiere

In games or movies, it is often the case that references to memes and sayings often do not sound very good years later because of the so-called “cringe”. After all, today hardly anyone imagines that Riot could add to the hero’s dialogue lines jokes about “your mom”.

Brolaf was unique in this regard. The creators took a risk and created texts for him that would not be as well-received today as it was then. It sounded funny in 2010, and the cool Olaf in the green Teemo T-shirt became a hallmark of the time.

Not every newer player knows that the above-mentioned legendary skin has a video featuring real Rioters. Watching it, you might get the impression that you traveled back in time to 2010.

In the comments to the video, you can find many funny suggestions from other skins in the series. As we know today, none of them has ever been created.

In addition to the statements of players from 10 years ago, there are also more recent opinions that point out how much the approach of the creators and the way the skins are released has changed.

This is a video from a time when Riot really listened to its fans, and not primarily what will sell on the Chinese market.

I miss those times. It’s not that it’s particularly bad now, but then League of Legends had an amazing vibe and magic.
