Riot removes this feature from LoL and laughs that hardly anyone knew about it. Apparently, no one used it
League of Legends sometimes removes certain features because the developers decide that they are not needed anymore.
Recently, Riot decided to remove several features from LoL. Players commented that they had not heard of them before and found out about them at the time of their removal. This time, even Riot laughs at it, writing:
Virtually no one used the rental system; many players didn’t even know it existed (heh).
Hextech was also taken care of while upgrading the mythic items system. As a result, one thing has disappeared from LoL for good.
What was removed?
There is a good chance that you will only learn now about the possibility of activating Loot Shards to rent champions, skins, or ward skins for a limited period of 7 days.
The patch notes said it was being removed. This “heh” from the above quotation was actually included in the official description.
Hextech Rentals
Unrelated to the above, we’re removing the ability to activate loot shards to rent champions, skins, and ward skins for 7 days. Virtually no one used the rental system; many players didn’t even know it existed (heh). Any rentals that are currently active will still stay active for their remaining duration.
The ability to upgrade shards into permanents, reroll them into permanents, or disenchant them into essence is not affected by any of these changes.
Will anyone miss this feature? It’s hard to miss something you didn’t know existed. Riot rather removes these types of features when the community doesn’t care for them, so people probably really didn’t use it at all.
