Riot “nerfed” one of League of Legends’ emoticons? Why don’t players like the new version?

League of Legends

One player pointed out that LoL developers have slightly changed a certain emoticon.

Emotes in League of Legends have been really well accepted and today there are a lot of them, making it possible for every player to find something for himself. Some of them have additional animations or sound effects, which further attract the attention of fans.

More than one person has arranged a circle of emoticons from those he sincerely loves and can’t imagine a match without them. Not surprisingly, he is quick to notice if any of them are modified in any way.

This is what happened to a certain Reddit user, who reported that one of his favorite emoticons in LoL had been “nerfed.” What is the issue?

Changes to one of LoL’s emoticons

A League of Legends Reddit user wrote that Riot had nerfed his favorite emoticon. He didn’t like the new version very much, and since he often used this particular graphic during matches, he quickly noticed that something was wrong and immediately informed the rest of the community about it.

Which emoticon is in question? The friendly Nasus, which refers to the very well-known dog of the Shiba Inu breed – Doge.

The Nasus emote could be picked up as part of a Prime Gaming subscription, so indeed many gamers have it in their collection. However, not everyone used it and knew that it was initially accompanied by a rather distinctive and loud dog howling sound.

A player wrote:

Why did they nerf the Nasus Doge emote?

I woke up, logged into LoL and went to spam my favorite emoticon. Unfortunately, I noticed that Riot nerfed its sound effects. Don’t listen to that howl anymore. It’s barely possible to hear exactly what it sounds like. Now the sound is very short and uneven.

I hope it’s a bug, because the new effect is just bad.

Here you can listen to what it sounded like before:

Some commenters felt that the change is so small that they practically can’t hear it, so they don’t feel bad about it. Others said that it’s even better that the sound is a little quieter, because it’s not so annoying when someone is spamming it all the time.
