Riot is “in a phase” for endless ultimates in LoL. Will there be a lot more of them?
The creators of LoL liked the new type of skill. Players speculate that it is not over yet and there will be more.
Often, the customization of characters or the creation of new characters is coordinated by the same employees. So they can have their preferences which they bring to the game. So they create a trend and issue skills that follow a similar pattern.
This time, it’s all about ultimate skills that can be extended indefinitely. The community has noticed that there have been many more of them in the last few months and it is possible that this is not the end.
Infinite Ultimate Skills
As League players have noted, Riot Games goes through various phases of character design. Fans could already come across the trend for heroes with three attacks, creating structures and walls on the map, as well as those introducing interactive elements (Skarner’s crystals). There were also damage holders and second chances like Bard, Kindred, Tahm Kench, and Ekko. Some also mention the recent “robbery trend” where Viego, Silas, and Zoe played the role of the thief.
This time, you can see that the developers like infinite ultimates. They give them to both older and newer characters. A good example is the recently reworked Olaf, his Berserker form now lasts until he can’t hit characters. Likewise, Swain, if he is within range of enemies during Demon Flare, it will last forever. There is also Zeri, released in January, and her speed of movement scaling endlessly after the ult becomes active.
Additionally, it turns out that the Void Empress Bel’Veth’s abilities, which will appear on official servers soon, can also last for a long period of time. While her ult is technically not infinite, the passive is.

So it’s hardly surprising for players to see this as a new trend and reflect on the effects of future heroes and the reworked ones. Riot Games is currently working on at least 3 reworks. They are for Skarner, Udyr, and Aurelion Sol. There is a chance that one of these champions will also have “infinite skill” if the creators continue to follow the trend.
