Riot had to intervene even before the upcoming update. Nerfs before patch 12.5

The premiere of Renata turned out so well that just a week after her release, the creators have to nerf her.
Renata Glasc made her way to League of Legends in the last update 12.4, and players were able to play her for the first time on February 17. Only a week has passed since the character’s premiere, and the creators already have to take into account nerfing her. Although initially, players had to get used to and learn to use the new heroine’s skill set correctly, her win rate is currently quite high and is constantly growing.

Upcoming Renata’s nerfs
Renata’s current win rate is 52%, and in the higher elo it can reach up to 53.5%. This value will certainly grow even more over time, as players learn about the heroine’s abilities and are better able to use them.
Designer Blake “Squad5” Smith confirmed that the team was concerned that it could increase significantly by the next update, so Renata’s corrections had to be introduced before the next patch was released.
Renata micropatch nerf coming live very soon here. Put in some quick context as to why we’re targeting what we’re targeting. Generally looks like her WR growth will continue a bit so we want to get some nerfs in now.
Rioter shared the full list of changes along with the context of each fix.
- Base stats
- Armor/lvl down from 4 – 3.5
General power reduction. Her Ar/Lvl was a bit high overall in class.
- Leverage (P)
- Reduce damage from 1-5% on both hits to 1-3%, stopping scaling at level 11 (This means that the numbers for growth are the same, we just don’t scale anymore past 11)
Optimization of the passive is a lot of damage, and we think generally leans toward higher MMR skill bands. Reducing power here that also hopefully disproportionately affects higher MMR. Doing this scaling model keep the growth more appreciable but later in the game not reach as high of a value.
ALSO – Riot has already given a special gift for reaching Challenger in all 5 LoL roles
- Bailout (W)
- Increase cooldown from 28-20 to 28-24
- Reduce duration of burndown from 3s to 2.5s
- Reduce health on revive from 35% to 20%
Uptime on W is too high – at high haste levels the duration of the buff almost reaches half of the cooldown (CD increase). Otherwise we want to make it easier to both run away from a dying enemy or burn them down (Burndown duration decrease). Additionally it should be easier to kill a targget that has successfullt saved themselves (revive hp).
Should lead to less chain W revive cases, and make it easier to kill and burn down W targets.
So there are significant weaknesses on the live servers, which are properly argued by Riot. The heroine is likely to lose a lot of her strength, but the community shouldn’t take long to adjust to the tweaks and make better use of the skill set.
