Riot confirms that a bug has crept into LoL, which is also a preview of autofill changes

One player has encountered a bug. Riot reported that it is related to the upcoming changes.

Autofill and protection against it are really important elements of the queue both for players who regularly play ranked matches and for those who prefer to play normals, but in draft mode.

The system is responsible for making the search for games last as short as possible, as a last resort, assigning players to positions that were not declared by them. Autofill protection, on the other hand, provided them with a guarantee that they would be assigned one of the two declared roles in the game being selected.

One LoL fan noted that one no longer gets autofill protection for playing support. The player was surprised to learn that Riot had not announced any changes in the update roster. Surprised, he decided to ask online, and Rioter spoke up in the thread. What did he have to say about it?

Upcoming autofill changes

A user with the nickname Defendo99 wrote that while being mainly a support, he used to choose the middle lane as his second role. In such a configuration, he was mostly a support, as there are definitely more mid players. Recently, however, he started to get other positions and began to pay attention to the presence of autofill protection. It turned out that it is no longer granted as it was in the past.

Recently I’ve been getting auto filled to jungle after I play a support game. I started double checking and the autofill protection is gone and autofill is active. I looked over the recent patch notes and there’s no mention of any changes to this system. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, why didn’t Riot inform us of this change?

Rioter Auberaun commented in the thread, writing that the player encountered a bug, but also reported that the studio is working on autofill changes, which are scheduled for the 12.18 update.

We have changes to autofill protection planned for 12.18, this part going out a little early on its own is a bug.

It is not known what exactly will change in the upcoming patch, but not granting autofill protection for playing on support is most likely one of the planned changes. Due to the fact that the update should appear on servers soon, Riot will likely inform players of its plans in a few days.
