Rekkles explains why he starts a game in LoL by muting all the other players
Rekkles also mutes chat, even as a professional LoL player.
It seemed that one of the best players in the world in League of Legends and at the same time such a recognizable person as Martin “Rekkles” Larsson does not need to mute his teammates. Because who would want to insult him?
The reality, however, is quite different and even he uses the well-known command /mute all in the chat. Now, during his live broadcast, he has decided to explain why he is doing this.
Rekkles and the /mute all command
League of Legends is a game that is hard to win alone. Therefore, communication in the team must be good and what counts is chemistry if we want to take different objects on the map. Muting the chat and pings may hinder the gameplay, which is why some people may be surprised why someone, especially at a high level, continue to do so.
There is also the other side of the coin, excessive communication, pinging items, characters, or “spamming with question marks” can be frustrating. Martin “Rekkles” Larrson, a former G2 Esports shooter, decided to talk about it.
During his live stream yesterday, he commented on this topic and explained to viewers why he is using the /mute all command.
The only time people give out information is when they’re pissed off, angry… and they just want to write something stupid and ping six times or just ping with a question mark – all that doesn’t help you.
He then added that he was fine with it as he could see everything on the minimap.
Is there any reason not to silence everyone? I don’t feel that I am missing anything. In fact, if you think about it, if you really want to become a better player, you might as well look at the map yourself.
In the end, he admitted that it was also not worth looking at the pings of our allies and blaming them if they did not do it as well.
“Instead of getting mad at the MID guy for not pinging ‘missing’, just look yourself… it’ll help you more than passing bad energy on to someone you don’t know.”

Does that mean we should mute everyone, including pings? While we can actually take Rekkles’ arguments seriously and do so, we must remember that the player has a really great ability to look at the minimap and does it practically “every second”, thus analyzing and seeing everything that is happening on the three lines. For this reason, if someone does not abuse pings excessively, it is worth leaving them, because they can help us many times.
