Is this one of the most forgotten LoL characters? He got a bigger update 2750 days ago

Fans of this character are surprised that Riot hasn’t given him any major changes in over 7 years.

Recently, one of the League of Legends characters – Neeko – received a mini rework that changed some of her mechanics. It quickly became apparent that such an update was a hit. Players enjoyed the fact that from now on the heroine is much more fun. Another of these types of redesigns goes to Rell, who is a relatively new character, as she came out in late 2020.

However, there’s a champion who was released in the same year as LoL’s release, 2009, and yet hasn’t received a remake, minor update, ASU, or anything like that in a very long time. The issue in question is Zilean.

Zilean, the forgotten hero of LoL?

One of Zilean’s fans decided to notify the League of Legends community that it’s been 2650 days since the hero received any significant changes. Of course, he doesn’t mean minor balance changes or minor bug fixes. The player is referring to more specific modifications, such as what Rell is currently getting, or changes within the Neeko update.

As noted by the author of the post, the champion in patch 5.21 received his current passive skill which allows you to accumulate experience points and, when there are enough, transfer them to an ally.

In update 5.22, the hero received a mana regeneration boost, while in 5.23 his super-skill was slightly improved.

And that’s it. Zilean has essentially gone untouched since patch 5.23. He has not had his own patch note section, to my knowledge, in about 7.5 years, or about 393 weeks.

To show how much time has passed, the author of the post provided some highlights.

  • Zilean’s last update was Illaoi’s release patch. Jhin, Aurelion Sol, and Taliyah were not yet in the game. 35 champions have been released in this time.
  • Dominion still existed as a game mode.
  • Poppy, Shen, and Taric had not yet been reworked into their current forms.
  • Doublelift’s departure from CLG had been announced, but he had not yet played for TSM. CLG was the only team he’d played for in LCS at this time.
  • Zilean went over 1600 days without a skin, and then went over 1000 days AGAIN without a skin, somehow reaching the 1000 day mark twice.

This is just a handful of information because much more has happened in the last 7 years. Some people don’t remember League of Legends from those days, because it’s quite likely that they hadn’t even heard of the game at the time.

The author of the entry was saddened to find that Riot seems to have forgotten about Zilean’s existence. More than once players asked for a rework of this hero. They complained about his model or outdated splash art.

The very fact that the champion ended up in the “1000 days without a skin club” as many as twice makes his fans sad. However, there is no denying that this is not a popular character, and releasing skins for him does not bring Riot that much profit.
