How did Riot imagine a LoL client 6 years ago? The best part is that it looks better than it does now
The LoL client that was shown by Riot 6 years ago. It looks better than the current one?
League of Legends hit the market as early as 2009. It is really a long time in the computer games industry, and most of such old productions are not as popular as at the time of their premiere. With LoL it is quite the opposite – the number of players is much greater than in the years in which the game was not so developed.
All thanks to regular updates, which not only introduce new heroes, items, or changes, but also improve the foundations of the game and the appearance of the client. The creators repeatedly shared their ideas, which were not always put into practice.
This is how Riot’s idea to refresh the game client from 6 years ago ended. Despite the fact that this one has undergone a number of changes, according to many players, it still does not look as good as in the video presented by the developers.
What could the client look like?
“Immediate-Office” user posted a short video of the League of Legends client’s work concepts that Riot shared in 2016. The LoL client is known for having always had problems with proper functioning. Although the developers have repeatedly stated that they are working on its improvement, in the end, players have always encountered bugs that prevented or hampered the use of what it offers.
What looked great on the concepts published by Riot ultimately left behind what the players finally received.
In addition, the videos do not show any imperfections, which only became apparent when the fans were able to test the new version of the client themselves. The application put into the hands of players had a lot of errors that prevented the efficient movement between individual tabs, such as a Hextech store or workshop.
Commenting users write that currently they do not expect the client to even look good, and the only thing they care about is its proper functioning.
Even so, many fans would appreciate the effects or animations, such as the one shown after accepting a found game or selecting a hero.
