Firelight Ekko skin in a changed form returned to the PBE servers after very negative feedback from players

Firelight Ekko received an SFX and returned to PBE.

In December 2021, after the premiere of the Arcane series, League of Legends players received several themed skins related to this production. Arcane Caitlyn, Jayce, and more have made their way into the game. In addition, a new series of skins has been created – Firelight.

It turned out then that Ekko is not worth the money. As a result, there was a whole lot of negative feedback on the internet, and Riot took them to heart and decided to fix the skin. Now it has returned in a changed version.

Firelight Ekko returns to LoL

While it may seem strange, Riot Games is actually paying attention to player feedback. This is perfectly shown by Firelight Ekko, which was supposed to be released in December 2021, but its premiere was postponed because the players did not like it. It was about the lack of visual effects in the skin for 1350 RP. The authors referred to this situation in this way:

Hey all, I wanted to say that we really appreciate the discussion around Firelight Ekko’s lack of SFX. We completely agree that SFX are a standard and expected part of an Epic (1350) skin, and leaving them out was an unfortunate mistake on our part due to a miscommunication internally. While we do everything we can to avoid delaying content, we’re going to hold off from shipping this skin for a few patches to work on adding new SFX. This also means the skin will come off of PBE for now.

This way the skin disappeared from the test server. But now it’s back, and Riot KDan has boasted of what they’ve accomplished over the course of over a month. Here’s what the new and overhauled Firelight Ekko looks like:

It has already appeared on the test server and will probably be released in update 12.4, which was suggested by yesterday’s leak of Shockblade skins.

What does the community think about the update? It turns out that the feedback is very good this time. Players like the sound effects but still complain about the lack of a mask that appears on the splash art.

Unfortunately, there is a small chance that Riot will add the mechanics of removing and putting on a mask. Apparently, players will have to do without it.
