Swatting is an equally popular and harmful phenomenon of calling services to specific places, most often to the homes of streamers or YouTubers.
One of the Twitch streamers was handcuffed after the police received information about a crime she was to commit. The report the services received was something like this:
“A woman who shot her husband locked herself in the bathroom and threatens to shoot anyone who enters the house.”
And so the police entered the house, handcuffed the streamer, and proceeded to search the apartment.
Arresting the streamer
Of course, no crime had occurred in the girl’s house. Nobody was hurt, but for everyone involved, both in uniform and the streamer herself, it was a very stressful experience.
The number of policemen shows that the matter was taken seriously. In the USA, in such cases, special vehicles, fully armed, drive up to the house.
As Alliestrasza herself writes, her neighbors must have been greatly surprised. Such situations sadly still happen and will probably do for an unknown future.
