Where was The Last of Us HBO series filmed? Surprisingly, it wasn’t the US

Where was The Last of Us filmed? One country prevailed.

The Last of Us on HBO has just come to an end, and on March 13, viewers had the opportunity to see the end of the planned plot for the 1st season of the series. The film adaptation consists of 9 episodes, about an hour each, so fans had a total of approximately 10 hours of the popular show to watch.

Although the action takes place in the post-apocalyptic United States, the places we can see on the screen definitely do not belong to any US state. Now, a few days after the end of the season, it’s getting loud about the locations that took part in the recordings for the series.

Where was TLOU filmed?

The action of the series takes place in the post-apocalyptic United States, but the places we could see on the screen are not in the USA. Interestingly, well-known sources regarding The Last of Us shared photos from the places that took part in the recordings a few years ago.

The vast majority of the series was filmed in Canada, specifically in the city of Calgary, Alberta. It was there that the first recordings began in July 2021. In addition, the adaptation also includes cities such as High River, Edmonton and Canmore.

The American town of Jackson, Wyoming, was also recreated for the series in Canmore. In addition, in Stampede Park in Calgary, a special alley with brick buildings was built, and in Waterton Lakes National Park, located in the Canadian Rockies, Joel and Ellie’s journey through the Colorado countryside was recorded.

Interestingly, The Last of Us was the largest film production ever made in Canadian history. No wonder, however, that the creators chose this picturesque place – it was really warmly received by the viewers.
