This is what the knives used in the movies look like. They do not resemble the real ones at all

Ever wondered how scenes involving knives are filmed, such as in Scream?

Props in films are a permanent part of film, series, or simply stage sets. Year after year, the question of ingenuity in this direction is developing more and more, and screenwriters are coming up with more and more interesting and sometimes even funny ideas that will make recording dangerous scenes even more convenient.

The most important thing is to create a prop that will look good on the screen, but most importantly will prove safe every time it is used. We recently wrote about how scenes are recorded with breaking glass. But of course, there are, after all, a whole lot of props that are easy to injure actors.

What do the knives we see in movies look like?

Sharp objects are a constant element of various horror movies. The most popular example here may be Scream, a film series in which a knife is, in a sense, the main character of each part of the film.

It is known that the scenes that are recorded with a real knife can be really dangerous – it only takes a moment of inattention for someone to get hurt. This, of course, can not be allowed on the set. With the help of props of knives, it is possible. Anyway, it’s best to see it for yourself.

At first glance, these knife props look really strange and it is immediately obvious that something is wrong with them – as if they were toy knives. On the other hand, the movies never get much of a close-up of the knife the criminals are using, and if they do, the knife is probably then substituted for a real one, but also dull and non-life-threatening. Now probably most people will focus on knives when watching horror movies.
