Riot will change Dr. Mundo to make the character “unkillable”, but it will come at a price

Why fans of Dr. Mundo are not happy with their champion status, and what does Riot think about it?
In Update 11.12, a new Dr. Mundo appeared on the League of Legends live servers. Another complete visual and gameplay rework was received very positively by the players, and the hero significantly gained popularity. At the moment, the champion has a really impressive win rate while making a relatively frequent top lane appearance.
The hero, however, has a problem that his fans notice. He is no longer an unstoppable character later in the game, and Riot agreed with the players. For this reason, Champion fixes may be coming to League of Legends soon, making him an unkillable champion later in the game.
What is the situation of Dr. Mundo?
Twin Enso, a designer from Riot Games responsible, among others, for the set of Sett’s skills or the reworked Dr. Mundo, announced that the creators want to make this champion an unkillable late-game tank.
The fixes are to make the hero stronger over time because he is currently not doing as well in the late game as the creators or fans of the champion would like.
His low MMR win rate is really high (around 54%), so we nerf the stats that keep him that high. We also plan to address his win rate in long games, but such fixes require a lot of time from us.
Dr. Mundo has also been compared to other juggernauts who are doing great in the lower divisions, but the higher the ladder, the better their opponents are able to deal with them. Rioter mentions that he is aware that these types of characters exist, but Mundo was not meant to be one of them.
His previous form was known for his ability to evolve into a tank that was virtually impossible to be killed later in the game.
Gamers thought the Rioter was right on the need for Dr. Mundo’s better scaling, although some were concerned that these tweaks might make him too powerful at lower ranks. Mundo gets worse in late game due to his inability to initiate team fights or his lack of crowd control effects.
As a player of Dr. Mundo, I hope the announced amendments will actually come. The hero is the most powerful in the mid game and comes off quite a bit in late game due to the enormous amount of damage.
Riot will likely have to weaken his early and mid game play, but that will help him become the teamfight juggernaut he is meant to be. I’m just curious to see what changes they will make to achieve this.
It is hard to say what the developers will ultimately improve and when the changes will appear on the live servers. However, it is a great success for players that Riot has noticed the problem of their favorite hero and plans to issue appropriate fixes in the future.
