Riot unveiled a new character for LoL 8 years ago, but there was no way to find out

League of Legends

It turns out that Bel’Veth’s appearance has been known for a long time. It is shown by an element seen by players on daily basis.

Soon, a new character related to the Void, known as its Empress, will be added to League of Legends. The announcement has been around for some time and, according to speculation, she will play an important role in the plot of the current season.

Bel’Veth’s full appearance leaked 7 days ago and players now know that it resembles a ray-like creature. Now it turns out that her image has been in the game for 8 years and the community has seen her even thousands of times a day.

Bel’Veth has been in the game for 8 years

The Empress of the Void was being announced for some time, and the developers created a fog of mystery around her. Thus, everyone waited for her appearance to be revealed, and it happened on April 20, due to the leak of her model in the game. Her appearance resembles a stingray and this was noticed by players looking for clues.

It turned out that Battlecast Vel’Koz has a similar creature in its splash art. It appears in the background not only on the full version of the graphic but also during the loading screen. Since both characters are from the Void, her presence may not be coincidental.

But that’s not all. A similar creature is also featured in Viktor’s return animation, also in the Battlecast skin.

The cosmetic content for Viktor is from September 2013, while the release date of Battlecast Vel’Koz is February 2014. This means that for over 8 years, players have been able to see the image of the future champion every day and no one has known about it until now.

Of course, it doesn’t necessarily have to be Bel’Veth. Perhaps there are more creatures similar to her in the Void, and the creators simply suggested one of the existing species. However, it’s worth knowing that the “stingray” is not a new idea from Riot.
