Epic has been sued for “stealing” an emote that appeared in Fortnite. Will it be removed?

Epic has been sued by a popular choreographer who claims an emote was introduced into Fortnite that he came up with.

If you follow all the information about Fortnite, you know full well that this is not the first time that it has happened. Even though Epic has won such cases in the past, Kyle Hanagami has decided to sue the studio anyway.

It is a choreography that was supposed to be published on Youtube in 2017. The choreography for “How Long” was used by Epic without permission, Hanagami believes. The emote in dispute is “It’s Complicated.”

Epic sued for using an emote

Such cases were enacted en masse in 2018, but it never led to the removal of emotes from Fortnite. Will it be like that this time? This is not known. As the comparison made by the channel “David Hecht” shows, the emote does indeed overlap with the original choreography.

There are several options. The most likely one assumes that the lawsuit will be dismissed and nothing will change. But there is also the option that Epic will simply lose and will have to withdraw the emote. Then you can expect to get your money back.
