EA Sports removes Russian national and club teams from FIFA 22. Strong response to war

FIFA

EA Sports has decided to remove all Russian national and club teams from FIFA 22.

FIFA and UEFA are partners of EA Sports. Both organizations banned the Russian national and club teams from participating in their competitions, including the qualifying rounds for the 2022 World Cup “until further notice”. Therefore, the FIFA developers from Electronic Arts decided to remove all Russian squads from their games.

The decision is meant to be a call for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine

As we can read in the statement issued by the developers of Electronic Arts:

Moreover, there are many indications that EA may issue a similar decision in its other games. We are talking here about NHL 22, from which Belarusian and Russian teams are to be removed.

It’s hard to say whether EA Sports decided to remove the Russian teams forever. It is possible that they will return to the game in the future, but it seems unlikely in the coming weeks.
