For Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players, the Major is the most important tournament of the year. Some players literally dream to be able to even participate in a competition at this level. It is well known that these games are sponsored by Valve itself. However, the community believes the developers are trying to save money on Major, as can be seen from the prize pool.
What is known about CS: GO Major, which will take place in a few months?
PGL Esports announced today on its social media that it will be hosting a competition scheduled to begin on May 9, 2022, in the Belgian city of Antwerp.
It is also known that the prize pool will be one million dollars, so teams will be rewarded as follows:
- 500 thousand dollars
- 150 thousand dollars
- 70 thousand dollars
- 70 thousand dollars
5th to 8th place will receive $ 35,000 each. Why are these sums quite disappointing and make the community think Valve is looking to save money on Major? The main point is that electronic sports are constantly evolving and the value of money has changed to some extent. Moreover, the Major’s prize pool in Stockholm in 2021 was exactly $ 2 million.
